Austin, TX

Mark Andrew Harden, 50, of Austin, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 16, 2023, following a brave and hard-fought battle with a lengthy illness.

Born on April 14, 1972, to loving parents, Robert (“Bob”) and Frances Harden, Mark immediately filled the lives of those around him with friendship, joy, and happiness.  Mark graduated from Hall High School in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1990 and went on to study Liberal Arts at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock. After successfully completing his degree, Mark pursued his musical passion and moved to Austin, Texas, to be part of the thriving music scene.

Mark was a loving son and brother, and he was an adoring uncle to Addison, Finley, and Aiden.  Mark was passionate about music and everything about it.  Mark loved music his entire life and was an accomplished guitarist.  When he was not playing or performing music, Mark was helping to support other artists through his talents in writing, composing, and recording music.

Mark never met a stranger and was an instant friend to everyone.  Anyone who knew Mark understands how kind and special he was.  Mark was always full of happiness and laughter, and his friendship was unwavering. Mark’s presence will be sorely missed and his loss deeply felt by many friends and family members alike.

Mark is predeceased by his father, Robert (“Bob”) Ray Harden. He is survived by his mother, Frances Burleson Harden, of Collierville, Tennessee, his sister, Amy Harden Cannon (Kyle), of Memphis, Tennessee, his loving nieces, Addison and Finley, his nephew, Aiden, as well as countless aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A celebration of life will be held in Mark’s honor, and all of Mark’s loved ones and friends are welcome to join in celebrating his beautiful life.  Services are currently being planned and an update will be provided to family and friends once details are finalized.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a memorial donation or gift be made in Mark’s honor to Health Alliance for Austin Musicians (HAAM), Austin Pets Alive!, or an organization of the donor’s choice.
