Virginia Rice Johnson was born in Georgetown County, South Carolina, the first of four children born to Edward and Alese Hughes Rice. At an early age, she accepted Christ at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church.
She graduated from Howard High School in Georgetown, South Carolina. She received her teaching degree from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina.
She married Henry Johnson on May 30th, 1964, in Hemingway, South Carolina.
Virginia leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters, Youlander M. Dean (Curtis) of Pflugerville, Texas, Curly A. Davis (John), Austin, Texas, Trudy A. McNeal, Austin, Texas, one brother, Earnest Rice (Ava), Bronx, New York, one sister, Janet Grant (Nathaniel), Georgetown, South Carolina, seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and a host cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
She is proceeded in death by her parents, sister, Mary Harper, and loving husband Henry Johnson. They were married for twenty-eight years upon his passing.
