Alvin "Chick" Vinklarek
Alvin died on January 11, 2016 at the age of 88. He was born on February 12, 1927 in Cistern, Texas to Charlie Vinklarek and Zofie Mares Vinklarek. He was raised on the farm with his 11 other siblings. Alvin was a World War II Army Veteran. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Winifred Vinklarek and his 7 children, Jeanette (Gary) Gutierrez, Simon (Darla) Vinklarek, Gregory (Jennifer) Vinklarek, Carl (Angela) Vinklarek, Connie Vinklarek, Bruce (Brandi) Vinklarek, and Patrick Vinklarek. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, their spouses and 3 great-grandchildren.
Alvin farmed and ranched in Cistern, Texas until his retirement. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family, reading books, listening to the farmers market radio show, and watching the birds and other wildlife that came into the yard.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 13th at 5:00PM followed by a Rosary Service at 7:00PM at the All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home in Smithville. Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 14th at 10:00AM at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Cistern, Texas.
He will be dearly missed by all of his family and friends.
