Angela Latrell Washington was born December 12, 1974, to Ella Mae Mason Washington and John Washington (Lois). From the beginning, Angie was unique, strong, and independent. Even as a young girl, she was competitive, athletic and would jump at the idea of showing any boy that she could do something better than he could, even in a fight.
Young Angie possessed a strong go-getter attitude, knowing she was built differently. Regardless of what happened in her life, she was willing to face it. Angie loved her family deeply, including her bonus dad, Nathaniel Griffin.
Angie could wow you from the kickball field to the kitchen, a woman of many talents. And if you challenged her to a freestyle contest or anything that involved flips, prepare to lose.
Angie was a compassionate CNA and a devoted mother to Jalen Washington, Jarod Washington, Javon Livingston, Jamari Nickols, and Janiya Nickols. Angie was blessed to spend 19 years with the love of her life, Ollie Nickols. Her devotion was just as intense when she became a grandmother to Jalen Washington Jr., Jarod Washington Jr., and Jakenzo Washington.
Our "Turn Up Queen" was the life of any party, and she loved to take pictures because she cherished the memories they gave her with the people she cared about.
Angie joins her maternal grandparents, Irene Marie and John Howard Mason Sr.; her paternal grandparents, Louetta Persley Washington and James Washington; her mother, Ella Mae Mason Washington; and her brother, John Herbert Washington Jr.
She is survived by her father and bonus father, John Washington and Nathaniel Griffin; her siblings, Adrian Washington, Andrea Washington, Yakez Washington, Anthony Washington, and John Washington; her children and grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends. A special thanks to Sara Thoms, a dedicated nurse and close friend.
