Annie Boyd

Annie Lois Boyd, age 95, of Austin, Texas, passed away on May 1, 2023, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Darrell Wayne Boyd; her children Rhonda Gail Johnson and Norman Wayne Boyd and his wife, Donna; grandchildren Monica Neasham, Julie Mueller, Amy Eastman, April Herms, Kevin Herms, Jennifer Boyd and Stephanie Boyd; and great grandchildren.

Annie was preceded in death by her daughter, Sherry Ella Scott and grandson Christopher Leighton.

Annie was born January 28, 1928 in Lubbock, Texas to William Sappington and Sarah Anne Hayes. She is preceded in death by one sister, Leona Lacewell and one brother, Elvie Couch.

She graduated from Lubbock High School in 1947 and married Darrell Wayne on July 19, 1947. After living in Dallas and San Antonio briefly, they settled and raised their family in Austin. The family had a cabin on Lake Travis and cherish many wonderful memories from days spent there.

Annie was an extraordinary gardener and her yard looked like a rain forest! She was a natural artist and picked up ceramics as a hobby. She excelled at ceramics and quickly progressed into porcelain and stoneware. Working with these mediums she mastered the whole process; pouring slip into molds, cleaning, painting, glazing and finishing up with firing the completed piece. Her family has loved and enjoyed all her incredible artistic creations!

Annie’s wish was to be cremated and have her ashes scattered in a field of wildflowers with immediate family present.
