Arthur Lee Kimbel “Art” 72, of Austin, passed away peacefully on December 27th, 2018, following a long and brave battle with COPD.
Art was born in Omaha, Nebraska to Leo Kimbel and Onzelle Flippo Kimbel on October 4th, 1946. He went to school in Memphis, Tennessee. He graduated from Germantown High School and then attended Memphis State University and The University of Tennessee. He married the love of his life, Barbara Fell on June 10th, 1972 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He worked in sales and manufacturing for the Wise Company (Memphis, Tennessee) for many years. After moving his family to Austin, Texas, he established and was the Managing Director for the Contract Manufacturing and Trade Consulting Brazos division of PI Worldwide. He also co-founded a business consulting firm, KWI, with his friend and partner Antonio Wehnes. Currently, he was employed by Dinamek Industries, where he has worked for 30 years, under the leadership of Jorge Garza, who he loved and respected. He was a veteran of The Vietnam War and served in the United States Coast Guard.
Art is preceded in death by his parents Leo and Onzelle Kimbel. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barbara, his daughter Karen Kimbel Newton (Zane) and grandchildren Kaia, Zadie, Kambria, Zenleigh, and Knox, his son Arthur Lee Kimbel “Lee” (Yvonne) and grandchildren Brittney and Zachary and two great-granddaughters. He also leaves behind his brother Richard Kimbel (Connie), six nieces, and their families; brothers-in law Michael Fell (Lori), Albert Fell (Elaine), Christopher Fell (Maryanne), many nieces and nephews, and his loyal fur baby, Stripe.
The family of Art wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Southpark Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Aseracare Hospice Staff for their kindness and compassion, and to our many friends who continue to help us through these difficult times.
Funeral Service will be at 10:00 am, Friday, January 11 at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, Texas.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the St. Vincent dePaul Society of Santa Cruz will be appreciated. A Celebration of Life will be held in the New Year .
