Audrey Mae Thornton Holloway, beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, nanny and friend transitioned from this earthly home to her heavenly home on October 25, 2024, at the age of 84.
Audrey Mae Thornton Holloway, affectionally known as “Mae Mae”, was born on January 17, 1940, to the union of the late Georgiana and Joseph Thornton of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Audrey was the youngest of her five siblings, Audrey was baptized into the Roman Catholic Church on April 21, 1940 during her time in the Catholic Church, Audrey would complete the Sacraments of First Communion in 1947 and Celebrated her Confirmation in ,1952.
Audrey attended Joseph A. Clark Senior High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. Audrey later attended Delagado Community College where she earned an associate’s degree in business.
On May 23,1964, Audrey met and married the Love of her Life the late Leroy Holloway, and to this union in 1965 a beautiful baby girl was born Sharon M. Holloway. Audrey was a devoted wife
and mother to her family.
Audrey was employed with the City of New Orlean’s and worked dutifully in several departments, The City’s Police Department, Finance Department, Food Stamp Office and Public Works Adjudicated Center. Audrey always excelled in all aspects of her work and was a dedicated Team Member.
In 2005 Audrey’s life took a major turn as Hurricane Katrina displaced families and friends in New Orleans, Audrey’s new life began in Pflugerville, Texas.
On April 30, 2006, Audrey became a member of St. Mary Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Richard A. Coaxum. Audrey would remain a Faithful and Dedicated member until her health began to fail.
Audrey a devoted member would always attend Sunday Services, Bible Study and was a member of Seniors on the Move.
Audrey was preceded in death by her beloved parents Georgiana and Joseph Thornton, bonus mom Margaret Carpenter Thornton, husband Leroy Holloway, Sister Mary Louise Thornton Davis, and brothers Raymond, Warren, and Andrew Thornton.
Audrey leaves to cherish her memories her daughter Sharon M. Holloway, granddaughter Kaila L. Anthony, nieces Marissa Davis-Coleman (Harvey)Sheila Tibbs (Thefety), nephew: Andrew Thornton, Jr, (Rochelle), God son Alcide Bacchus, devoted cousin Barbara Jean Bacchus, as well as a host of other relatives, friends and her church family.
