Betty Rogas

Betty Jo Rogas was born on March 20, 1934 in Rogers Springs, Hardeman County, Tennessee to Olen and Jessie (McCaskill) Shelly.

Betty grew up in Rogers Springs and Memphis, Tennessee, where she learned the value of family, friends, and laughter. Betty Graduated from South Side High School in 1951.

Betty and her family moved to Carlsbad, New Mexico, where she met Clint Alvin Rogas of Round Rock, Texas while he was there playing baseball. They married in 1954 and Clint whisked her away to Austin, Texas, where they spent their 61 years of marriage.

Clint was the love of Betty's life and her knight in shining armor. You could see that when you were with them. They had many happy times together. They enjoyed raising their two sons, born in 1960 and 1964, and were always there to guide and support them. After Clint retired in 1990, they enjoyed traveling throughout America.

Betty worked as a bookkeeper for Southern Union Gas after moving to Austin and until the arrival of her first son. Betty's true career was being a mother, first to her two younger brothers, Bobby and Danny, because of her mother's illness and early death, and next to her two sons, Clint Jr. and Keith. After Clint Jr. and Keith got older, Betty enjoyed many years of working part-time as a secretary for Allstate Insurance agents. However, she never lost focus on her family and friends.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Olean (Sissy) Dixon; and brother, Jimmy Shelly.

She is survived by her brothers, Robert (Bobby) McCaskill Shelly and William Daniel (Danny) Shelly; and her two sons and their children: Clint Alvin Rogas, Jr. and his wife, Susan, and children, Kari Warnstedt and husband, Karl, and April Filipenko and husband, Matthew (Matt); and Keith Allen Rogas and his wife, Stephanie, and children, Lauren, Stephen, and Sarah.

On July 4, 2016, the Lord Jesus sent his angels to gather Betty to himself. We will miss her dearly as we wait patiently in the certain hope that we will see her again when Jesus returns with all the saints and angels.
