Byron Ray Maxwell was born May 20, 1976 to Rosetta and James Maxwell Sr. in Austin, Texas.
Byron accepted Christ at an early age and was later baptized at the St. John Progressive Baptist Church where his grandfather, the late R. L. Pearson, Sr. served as Pastor. He sung in the church choir and played the drums when needed. He later joined the St. James MBC where he remained until his untimely passing.
Known as "Mailbox" by many, he loved God, his children and family. He loved singing and praising God. He sung with great choirs as Claudia Williams and the Voices of Christ, Rayshod Caldwell and Dominion, and Eric Jones and the Inspirational Choir. His favorite gospel artist was Rickey Dillard and New G.
He was preceded in death by a James Anthony Maxwell Jr. (brother), Paul Alexander (stepfather) Jo Ella Brown (aunt), R. L. Pearson Jr., Leon Pearson, Edward Brown, Sr. and Lenny Maxwell (uncles), and maternal and paternal grandparents.
He leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Rosetta Alexander and James Maxwell Sr., his children, Destiney Maxwell, Faith Maxwell, Byron Maxwell Jr., Bryona Maxwell and Sean Paul Maxwell; brothers, Rev. Gregory Maxwell (Stephanie), Wayne Maxwell and Marcus Maxwell, aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many other relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, October 1, 2012 at All Faiths Funeral Services, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin, TX 78753, from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Funeral Services will be Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. James Baptist Church, E.M. Franklin Chapel, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Clearview Cemetery, Bastrop, Texas at 2:00 p.m.
