Carl Demetrius Griffin

Carl Demetrius Griffin was born on July 1, 1969 to Hattie Griffin and Lawyer Jackson Jr., in Cleveland Mississippi. As a young child he moved to Austin, Texas where Carl attended and graduated from Lanier High School. Carl was a dedicated member of the Lanier Viking Varsity basketball team. Carl then relocated to Illinois in 1992. There he attended Highland Community College and obtained his degree as an Automotive Mechanic. Carl accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at the Mt. Carmel Holiness Church in Chicago, Illinois.

In 2017, Carl met and married the love of his life, Erika Davis. In their time together they enjoyed traveling, comedy shows, and cruising.

Carl was known as a gentle giant who loved everyone. He was a great husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother. He was known for his generous spirit and jovial personality. He was truly loved by everyone that knew him.

He quietly departed this life Wednesday , August 26, 2020 at his home in Lago Vista, Texas with his wife by his side.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hattie Griffin. James E. Griffin (brother), Sharon Hayward (sister), Belton L. Griffin (brother), David Cunnigham (brother).

He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife, Erika Griffin. Racquel and Jessica (daughters). Nigel, Nicolas, and J’son (step-sons). Nahla, Josiah, Hendrix, Lenox, and Nova (grandchildren). His father, Lawyer Jackson and step-mother Virgia Jackson. His sisters, Sandra J. Griffin, Veronica Edwards (Charles), Pamela Griffin, Sheila Lee, Lakisha R Hawkins. His brothers, Charlie Griffin, Murrell Griffin of Des Moines, IA. Mandal Nailer, and Lawrence Stokes (Kimberly) of Chicago, Illinois and Lekendrick Richard.
