Carl Edward Saxon, beloved husband, father, friend, and educator, died suddenly on Thursday, August 15, during surgery at the Heart Hospital of Austin. He was born in Dallas, Texas on February 8, 1949 to Robert and Mildred Saxon. Carl was an educator for forty three years in East Texas and Del Valle and touched many young lives throughout hi basketball coaching and teaching careers. His sincere concern and care for his students was evident through his mentoring and discipline. Carl always ended his class instruction by asking his students to go home and tell their parents they love them.
Carl is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Mary Catherine, his children; Brent Saxon and wife Dana of the Woodlands, Ashley Saxon of Smithville, and Trey Saxon of Austin. He is also survived by his four grandchildren; Jermie Perales, MacKenzie Saxon, Reese Saxon, and Finely Saxon. Carl will be missed by many friends, students, co-workers, relatives, and by his sister, Pat Saxon of Richardson.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 19th at All Faiths Funeral Home in Smithville.
The service will be Tuesday, August 20th at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Smithville. Interment will follow the service at the Oak Hills Cemetery.
