Carlos “Diablo” Vasquez, 68, of Laredo, Texas, passed away at Seton hospital surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born and raised in Laredo, where he met and married Elma Villarreal. Carlos and Elma had three daughters. He worked in Laredo half his life, then moved to Amarillo where he had two more children. Carlos worked all his life and devoted that life to his children and grandchildren. He was loved by everyone he came into contact with.
Carlos loved to fish, wrestle, and enjoy a Western movie like ‘Gunsmoke’. Most afternoons were spent watching Mexican novellas. He loved to barbeque and have people over. Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays and Saturdays were spent watching football. His favorite teams were the Houston Texans and the UT Longhorns. Carlos loved shopping for everyone, and almost never for himself, but others.
Carlos is preceded in death by his mother; Rosa Vasquez, father; Jose Vasquez, brothers; Jesus Vasquez, Jose Vasquez, and Lorenzo Vasquez, and sister Gloria Schultz.
He is survived by his brother; Robert (Angelita) Vasquez, sister-in-law; Juanita Vasquez, daughters; Rosaura (Juan) Lira, Nora A. Torres, Elma (Frank) Vasquez, and Jennifer Deleon, son; Micheal Longoria, grandchildren; Antonio Martinez, Andrew Torres IV, Nora L. Torres, Theresa Torres, Victor Torres, Avessa Jalomo, and Jose R. Torres, great-grandchildren; Maite, Pherrah, Levi, Eric, Nyomi, Micheal, and Gabe, life-long friend; Donna Freytag, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held August 24th, 2019 at All Faiths Funeral Services North in the chapel, with a viewing from 4:00 to 6:00 pm. Prayers and stories of remembrance from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
