North Austin Location

Dear Friends and Family,

Our dear brothers, Carl W. and Charles B. Crenshaw have passed away. Both had been in a state of declining health for the past few years. Charles Barron Crenshaw passed away on February 9, 2015 and Carl Warren Crenshaw passed away March 10, 2015. Both died at the North Austin Medical Center in Austin, Texas.
The twins were born eleven minutes apart on January 25, 1944 in Corpus Christi, Texas. They were the 3rd and 4th children of Henry W. and Jeffrey Hazel Crenshaw, both parents preceded them in death.

Charles Barren Crenshaw professed faith in the Lord Jesus at an early age and eventually became a minister and proclaimer of the Gospel. Charles united with the East Side Baptist Church, Austin Texas, and was baptized in 2013. Charles loved the Lord and studying the Word of God. Charles enlisted in the Naval Reserve in San Diego, California at the age of 17. After 3+ years of service he returned to Austin to live permanently. He retired from working for the City of Austin after 20+ years of service.

Charles always had a captivating smile and a personality that was welcoming and made others smile. Charles was known as a jokester, always teasing and bringing laughter to younger family members. He was very competitive in sports (softball) and in table games, especially in dominos. Charles loved music and had an extensive movie collection. Like his twin he loved growing things, pets, and family.
Charles is survived by: seven siblings; his children: Kimberly and Kenneth Ray Crenshaw (CA), Patrick (Janis) Robertson (GA), Brent Robertson (Austin), Meshelle (William) Nolen (MO), Tammy Crenshaw (GA), and Renee Crenshaw (Dallas); grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Carl Warren Crenshaw spent his early years with the family in Corpus, Temple, and Austin, Texas. Like his twin at age 17 he enlisted in the Navy Reserve in San Diego, California. Carl also served in the military about 3 years, but after his discharge he remained in California for the next 26 years, making a life for himself there but visiting Austin for various family functions. Carl returned home to Austin and was reunited with his twin in 2011.

Carl loved the ocean, pets, and family. Carl inherited our mother's love of plants and always maintained some sort of garden. He loved music and had a very nice tenor voice. Carl like Charles, was an avid softball player and played until his health began to fail.

While in California, Carl worked as a welder for many years in a chemical plant.

Carl and Charles' surviving siblings are: Willard Crenshaw (CA), Gladys Henderson (Austin), Rubye (James) Fisher (KY), Ardis Crenshaw (Fran) (Taylor), Debra (Enrique) Cruz, Robbie Ringer (Austin), and Sharon Crenshaw (Manor).

Carl is survived by his ex-wife Susan (AZ) and his children: Carl Jr, A.D, Chris, Martine, and Jennifer, and grandchildren all of California. Special friends Robert Singleton Jr (CA) and Art (Austin).

Though Carl and Charles were separated for more than 26 years and over 1700 miles they shared a bond that only they understood. Our brothers will be sorely missed.
The Twins family wishes to thank the caregivers at Legend Oaks Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, especially Leonard, Leslie, and Valerie; the Gracy Woods I Nursing Home, and the caregivers at North Austin Medical Center, especially the ICU nursing staff.
