Charlotte Rayburn of Austin went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, January 20, 2015, following a brief illness. Charlotte was born near Lytle, TX in Bexar County on May 29, 1933 to Cecil and Georgia Caulk Roath. Her father was a rancher and cattleman in South Texas and Mexico.
When Charlotte was twelve her mother passed away. Soon after, five of the Roath children were moved to Methodist Children's Home in Waco, Texas. There she met her future husband, Paul Rayburn, who also lived at the Home. She graduated from school in Waco, and in 1955 she and Paul married, and moved to Austin. Both of their children were born and raised here.
For many years Charlotte worked as an administrative assistant in the Women's Athletic Department at the University of Texas. She has been an active member of SkyView Baptist Church for over 50 years. She is survived by her son, Paul (Rusty) Rayburn, Jr. and his wife Josie; and by her daughter, Nancy Rayburn Vasquez, and by four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, and two brothers. Her beloved husband of 58 years, Paul Rayburn, passed away in October, 2013.
Friends are invited to her memorial service which will be held at SkyView Baptist Church, 211 W. Koenig Lane, on Monday, January 26, at 1:30 p.m. Her grandson, P. J. Rayburn of Pampa, will officiate. Burial will follow at Cook-Walden Capital Park Cemetery in Pflugerville.
