Curtis Franklin Washington was born December 1, 1937 to Artra Mae Washington-Carr of Giddings, Texas.
He attended L. C. Anderson High School and upon graduating enlisted into military service. Curtis proudly served his country in the Korean War and often regaled others with stories of his adventures. Upon returning to civilian life, Curtis pursued a career in truck driving where he was awarded the million-mile award. He was a career truck drive for over thirty years until his health failed him.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Eddie and Josephine Washington; his mother Artra Mae Carr and his son Gary Washington.
He leaves to cherish his memory two daughters: Terri McCarthur (Roy) and Devonne Washington; five grandchildren: Demetria Wiley, Jasmine R. McCarthur, Jeremiah R. McCarthur, Deveonah Shephard and Julius Rollin IV; two great-grandchildren: Quyntiana Burdett and LaQuan Williams; two great great-grandchildren: Carmelo Menocal and Dominik Fernandez; five brothers: Leon Carr (Kathy), Norris Carr, Jr. (Claudette), Billy Carr (Mae), Bobby Carr and Dan Carr; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at 11:00am at Eastside Baptist Church.
