Daryl Wayne Brown was born Sept. 21, 1957 in Abilene, Texas and passed away May 26, 2012 in Austin. His family moved several times before settling in Austin in 1962. Daryl grew up in the Hyde Park neighborhood where he enjoyed roaming the quiet tree-lined streets with boyhood friends, his brother Virgil and sister Debbie. They often played at Shipe Park and swam in the pool there.
As he grew older, Daryl fell in love with the area lakes where he enjoyed swimming, fishing, picnicking and just spending time near the water. In recent years some of his favorite times were spent with his friend Donnie fishing in Kingsland.
After graduating McCallum High School, Daryl married Donna Chapman and they had three sons. Daryl and Donna later divorced but remained in touch.
In his later years Daryl became an avid gardener and decorated his home with the beautiful plants he had grown. Some of those plants will live on to keep him alive in our memories.
Daryl's abilities to love and forgive made him an extremely special person. He often gave of himself to friends and family with no expectation of receiving anything in return. He loved unconditionally and for that we will always cherish him.
Daryl is survived by his sons Joe, Frank & David Brown; sister Matye McDonald & her husband Warren who called him "my-other-brother-Daryl"; brother Leroy Willoughby; loving nieces and nephews; special friends Donnie Pickering and Shawn Sullivan as well as a host of other friends in the Austin area.
