David Mcelhatten

David McElhatten, 90, of Austin, TX, formerly of Broomfield, CO and Greensburg, PA, died peacefully at home early Sunday morning, April 14, 2019. The day before his death he enjoyed a big breakfast with friends and family, sharing conversation, laughter and lots of love.

Dave was born in Oil City, PA 0n December 12, 1928 to Grant W McElhatten and Bernice Ingham McElhatten. His parents predeceased him, as well as his wife of 51 years, Patricia Burnett McElhatten and many other relatives.

He is survived by his sister, Marian Rodgers of Oil City, PA, sister in law Joan Arseneau, also of Oil City, PA, his daughters, Karen McElhatten of Austin, Luanne McElhatten of Thrall, TX, son Kevin McElhatten and his wife, Lucinda and 4 month old grandson, Patrick, (who was born one day before his grandpa’s 90th birthday) of Broomfield, CO his former son in law, Frank Mento of Cary, NC, along with many nieces, nephews, and friends. Many friends considered Dave their second “dad”. This pleased him very much.

Dave proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War.

His final career, after many years as an electronics   engineer, was as a self-employed over the road truck driver. He had many interesting stories to tell of his 20 years on the road. Dave was passionate about holistic medicine and spent much time doing research to find remedies for his own ailments as well as others.

The family is planning a celebration of his life at a later date, tentatively in May.
