David Whitehead, 80, passed on the 29th of May, 2020 in Austin, Texas.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Darlene Whitehead, his 2 children, Angela Whitehead and David Whitehead Jr., 5 granddaughters, Kaitlin Whitehead, Victoria Whitehead, Brooke Fluker, Amber Fluker and Amethyst Washington, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Lola, as well as siblings Marvin, Robert, Willard, Wilburn, Eddie, Geneva, Lilly, Dorothy, Beatrice, Marie, and Mozelle.
David was born on March 2nd, 1940 at Brackenridge Hospital to Eddie Whitehead and Lola Mae Pettit as the last child of 12. He was a professional painter by trade for over 50 years. David took great pride in his work, and maintained many loyal customers throughout his career. He was very proud of his East Austin roots and took pride in where he came from and what he had accomplished over the years.
David was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was a deeply spiritual man and always kept a bible by his bedside to read scripture. David loved playing a good card game with his family, as well as playing the lottery nightly. He loved to joke, sing, and tell stories. David never met a stranger, and always made friends wherever he went.
At this time, funeral services will not be conducted. A private memorial service is being held on the 14th of June, 2020 at a family home.
