Luvenia "Charles" (Hardeman) Dears was born May 15, 1938 to the late Daniel A. and Beulah Carr Hardeman of Center Union Community in (Bastrop County) Texas. She was the fourth of eight children.

Luvenia graduated from Smithville Colored High School in May 25, 1956. She then took some college courses in both California and Austin, Texas.

She united in marriage to James W. Dears in 1957. To this union was born one daughter, Cynthia Renee (Dears) Lane.

Luvenia was a devoted and faithful employee at Westminister Manor for over 22 years. Upon retirement, she was an avid crossword puzzle fan, loved the great outdoors, and dearly loved to travel. She was known to be a baker of cakes, especially "Pound Cakes".

She accepted Christ at an early age at Center Union Baptist Church, and in her latter years became a faithful member of Metropolitan AME Church serving over 38 years. She was a member of the Metropolitan Mass Choir.

Luvenia was a very loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend to all. She was known for her laughter and was dearly loved by those that knew her.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Daniel and Beulah Hardeman, her brother: Willie Lee Hardeman, a sister: Ella Mae McDonald, brother-in-law: Jimmy Felix and a son-in-law: Sebesttian Lane.

She leaves to mourn: a daughter; Cynthia Lane, a granddaughter; Nia Lane, her sisters; Theresa (Alvin) Sneed, Erma Jean Felix, all of Austin, Texas; Ernestine Thompson, (Smithville, TX), Jacqueline Hardeman of San Diego, California, and her brother: Daniel Hardeman, Jr. (Janice) of Austin, Texas; a brother-in-law: George McDonald of Austin, Texas and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.

A visitation with the family will be held from 4:00-8:00 on Thursday, February 28, 2013 at All Faiths Funeral Services- North location. Funeral Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 1, 2013 at Metropolitan A.M.E. Church, Austin. Burial will follow at 2:00 p.m. at The Central Texas State Veteran's Cemetery in Killeen, TX
