Donald Campbell was born to Claude and Agusta (Miller) Campbell, Sr., on May 23, 1939. He was the eleventh child born to this union. Donald accepted Christ at an early age and joined Swenson Grove Baptist Church under the Pastorage of Reverend B. T. Paige.
Donald, affectionately known as “Duck” to her family and friends, attended public schools in Hutto and Taylor, Texas. During high school, he excelled in baseball. Donald and one of his sisters also entered and won dance contests at several parties. He loved watching Western movies and one of his most favorite things to do was to eat fish every Friday. Donald was a kind, gentle soul who loved his family. Donald never met a stranger and touched the lives of all he encountered. Donald worked for the City of Austin for a number of years. He later went to work for the Austin Independent School District. Donald also owned his own Janitorial service. Donald married Doris Lavern (Guyton) Campbell on January 1, 1968. To this union, three children were born.
Donald’s parents, Claude and Agusta Campbell; four brothers: Willie, Howard, Claude, Jr., and Jimmie Campbell; four sisters Alice Shuler, Ethel Shuler, Nettie Campbell, and Mary Campbell, preceded him in death. Donald leaves to cherish his memory: two sons, Franciscus and Derrick Campbell; honorary son: Derrick Fowler; two daughters: Mary (Erick) Culberson and Regina Campbell; three grandsons: Darrique, Marquis, and D’Nerick Campbell; two brothers: Bobby (Bobbie) and L.C. Campbell of Austin; one sister, Ruby Simms of Pflugerville; and a host of other family members.
