Doris Center passed away at the age of 73 on Wednesday October 31, 2018 at St. David’s Medical Center. She was surrounded by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and close relatives during her final moments.
Doris “Sweetie” Center (Nanny) daughter of the late Avelet and Nellie Lee Franklin was born on January 27, 1945 in Austin, Texas where she grew up and attended schools in east Austin. Married on August 04, 1960 she became a devoted mother to her five children. Doris was always there for her kids. She was a very loving mother by dedicating her time to her family. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, shopping, decorating and family time she truly loved doing anything she could for others. She also enjoyed writing small poems, sharing soap opera gossip and talking on the phone with her family for hours on end. Her home was always clean and decorated beautifully. She could shop til she dropped, whether it was in the store or from T.V. (QVC) it was definitely her favorite pass time.
Doris was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church of Hobbs, New Mexico. Throughout her career with Travis County Supervision and Correctional Department she gracefully and tirelessly took care of her father and mother when they reached the point of needing assistance. Doris retired after servicing 25 excellent years.
Doris loved each and every one of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She shared a very special bond with each of them. Doris’s personality and beautiful loving soul will forever be cherished in the lives of her 5 children who she was survived by, Delores Elaine Center of Lancaster, California, Wanda Faye Berry (Willie Berry Jr.) of Austin, Texas, Angela Kay Walton (Natalie Davison) of Lancaster, California, Sherry Lee Parks (Perry Lee Parks Sr.) of Austin, Texas, Vernon Clay Carathers (Kenia Carathers) of Hutto, Texas. Her grandchildren TeNishia Chenee Moore, Tonya Latrice Moore, Tiara DeAnn Moore, Glenn Douglas Walton Jr., TeNeill Cheree Parks, Toya Requel Walton, Perry Lee Parks Jr., Titus Jeremiah Carathers, and TeAsia Kae’le Carathers. Her aunt Ellen Franklin Dawkins and 11 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 2 nephews and a host of family and friends.
Visitation Services will be held on Tuesday November 6th, 2018 at All Faiths Funeral Services-North Location, 8507 N. IH-35, Austin, Tx. 78753, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, November 7th, at 11am, St. James Baptist Church, E.M. Franklin Chapel, 1812 E.M. Franklin Avenue, Austin 78721 (512-928-2753)
