Doris Ann Washington was born to Willie Lou Amos on July 7, 1947, in
Sweetwater, Texas. On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, she departed into her eternal resting place.
She accepted Christ at an early age at St. Stephen Baptist Church on
Rosewood and there she was a faithful member of the choir, Junior Mission,
and Mission Two. She attended Austin Public School and graduated from L.C. Anderson in 1965.
In 1966, she married (late) J.C. Washington Jr., and from their union, they had
five children. She loved spending time with her family, especially on
birthdays and holidays and most of all, she loved spending time with her
grandchildren and cooking on holidays.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband J.C. Washington Jr, her daughter
Joan Carol Washington, her adopted Mother Onnie B. Byrd, her birthmother
Willie L. Amos, and her brothers Benny L. Amos and Vincent Amos.
She leaves her memories to be cherished by her daughters Kimberly A.
Washington and Scenia M. Washington-Tucker of Austin, Texas. Her sons,
J.C. Washington III of Austin, TX, and Terry K. (LaSandra) Washington of
Buda, TX. Eleven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her siblings
Mary Wynn (David) of Manor, TX, Bobbie Lee Hill, Robert D.(Louise) Carry
of Sweetwater, TX, Rosalinda Stevenson of Austin, TX, and Barbara Roberts
of Denver, CO.; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
