Dorothy Aldridge

July 17, 1932 — December 28, 2016

North Austin Location

Dorothy Mae Kimble Aldridge was born on July 17, 1932 in LaGrange, Texas. She was the fourth child born to the late Rev. Lonnie Kimble and Cora Clemons. She was baptized at an early age and attended school in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from Phillis Wheatley High School. She furthered her education at Huston Tillotson College.
Dorothy was united in holy matrimony to Luther David Webster, Sr. and to this union two children were born.

She later married Willie W. Jackson, Sr. and to this union three children were born. She was a member of Greater Union Baptist Church under the leadership of the late Pastor O. D. Davis. She served faithfully until her health began to fail. Dorothy was a long time employee of the University of Texas - Jester Center, where she served as the Culinary Supervisor for thirty-two years. After retirement, she devoted many years working in home health care, where she was able to continue sharing with others her passion for cooking and care giving.

She loved fishing and family cookouts. Her joy of cooking was the center of what became a family tradition of home-cooked Sunday dinners. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Ira Kimble; and one sister, Mary Jewell DeRamus. She quietly slept away on Wednesday, December 28, 2016, with her family by her side.

While she will be dearly missed, she leaves to cherish her precious memories: four sons, Larry Eugene Kimble of California, Luther David Webster, Jr. (Deborah) of Kyle, Tx, Willie James Jackson, Jr. (Nina) and Mark Sterling Jackson (Mila) both of Austin, Texas; two daughters, Tobbie Kay Webster Carter and Gaile Emily Jacquot (Jeff) both of Austin, Texas; one brother, John D. Kimble (Rosie) of San Antonio,Texas; twelve grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren; and a host of relatives and friends.
