Edward Piper

Our beloved Edward Lee Piper was born to the late Precious McMarion and Velma Lee Bell Edmonson on November 29, 1951 in the fabulous city of Bastrop, TX. Edward professed his faith in Christ at an early age and believed in our Savior until his departure.

Edward graduated from Bastrop High School in 1971 and enlisted in the US Army, in which he did a tour of duty in Germany during the Vietnam War.

Edward worked for Bastrop Independent School District for many years. After leaving the school district, Edward mastered his skills in carpentry and gardening until his health began to fail. Edward married the love of his life Ms. Betty Jean Barnett on December 7, 1970. Unto this union five children were born.

Edward departed this life peacefully on Saturday July 16, 2016, with two of his daughters by his side. He is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Preston Earl Piper and William McMarion.

Memories of Edward will be cherished by his wife of 46 years, Betty Jean Piper of Bastrop, TX, two sons Harold Barnett and Dana Piper both of Bastrop, three daughters Gwendolyn Barnett, Tracey Slaughter of Bastrop, TX and Ebony Piper of Austin, TX. He will also be remembered by one brother Johnny Piper (Lillie) of Bastrop, TX and three sisters, Jackie Thomas (Isaiah) of Victoria, TX, Ivy Jones of Waco, TX and Gail McMarion of Cedar Creek, TX, 14 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and host of family and friends
