Eleanor Ayotte

“Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saint” (Psalm 116:15). Eleanor Fox Ayotte, 92, of Austin, Texas, passed away on January 23, 2018.  She was born November 2, 1925 in Tacoma, Washington, and raised in Portland, Oregon. Parents were Russell Fox and Frances Toates Fox of Oregon.

She married Austin C. Ayotte in 1945.  They were married 70 years before his death in 2016.  She traveled the world with him in his role as a pilot in the United States Air Force.  They were stationed in South Carolina, Texas, England and Greece among other places, retiring in Texas in 1974.

While stationed in England in 1954, Eleanor met her Lord Jesus Christ.  She served Him for the rest of her life.  She was a prayer warrior, praying for friends and family all over the world.  She wanted everyone she knew to know Jesus; His love shined through her to all.

Eleanor was known for her hospitality and love to many around the world.  She has entertained large groups (as many as 90 at one gathering) of service men and women, international students, friends and family for holiday meals, hot dog roasts and cook-outs.

Eleanor is survived by her son, Larry, of Mesa, Arizona, a pilot with XOJET; a daughter, Betty, of Austin, Texas, retired nursing professor; her twin sister Edythe of Portland, Oregon; grandson Stephen and granddaughter Katie of Arizona; two great-granddaughters, and many step and adopted grandchildren.  A memorial service celebrating Eleanor's life will be held at Redeeming Grace Lutheran Church, Manchaca, Texas.  She will be interred with her husband in the military cemetery at Ft. Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas. And now she is “well pleased rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” (2 Cor 5:8).
