Elsie (Nurmi) Polso, 87, passed away on
April 22, 2015 in Austin, Texas. She was a four year resident of Stonebridge Skilled
Nursing Health Center. She suffered from
Lewy Body Dementia.
She was born in Kimball Township (Hurley,
Wisconsin) to the late William and Fiina
Nurmi. She attended school in River Branch (Hurley, Wisconsin). She married Einar Polso of Ironwood,
Michigan in 1946 and they shared 68 years together. Elsie and her family lived in Kimball Township for 19 years.
In 1965, she and her family moved to Kenosha, Wisconsin.
There she worked at Carthage College as a cook, prior to working at Kemper Insurance in Long Grove, Illinois as a coder. She
retired in 1987. In 1990, she and her husband moved to Texas.
Elsie is survived by her husband Einar, two children; Douglas (Carol) Polso of Kenosha, Wisconsin and Doreen (Craig) Gossen
of Austin, Texas. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Chad, Kevin, Adam, Travis and Katrina Polso of Kenosha,
Wisconsin; Kyle (Ashley) Gossen of San Antonio, Texas; Kara Gossen of Dallas, Texas; and one great granddaughter, Elouise Gossen of San Antonio, Texas. Also surviving is a brother, Arnold
Nurmi, and nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Fiina Nurmi; her brothers, Arthur and Reino; an infant brother, Arvo Nurmi; and her sisters, Ida Haavisto and Jennie Ahonen.
