E.E. "Al" Hagedorn, 85, died December 14, 2013, in Austin, Texas. Al was born April 30, 1928, in Staples, Texas, to Otto and Olga Hagedorn.
Al was a Colonel in the United States Marine Corps, having served his country for 27 years before retiring in 1976. Al was a member of Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell, Texas.
He enjoyed traveling the world, square dancing, peach and pecan farming, and gardening.
Al is survived by his wife, Joyce. He is also survived by two sons, David Hagedorn (wife Beth) and Douglas Hagedorn (wife Kim); three daughters, Melinda Griffin (husband Bill), Melissa Murley (husband Mike), Martha Przybiski (husband Edward); two stepsons, David Boggan (wife Shannon), Philip Boggan; and one stepdaughter, Ruth Schwartz (husband Joel). He is also survived by one sister, Linda Stapper. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, December 17, at 10 a.m., at Ebenezer Lutheran Church in Maxwell, Texas. Visitation will follow the service.
A private interment service will be conducted at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, San Antonio, at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ebenezer Lutheran Church Building Fund (Maxwell, TX 78656) or a charity of choice.
