Eulin Carter

June 14, 1932 — November 24, 2012

North Austin Location

Eulin R. (Buddy) Carter lost his battle to lung cancer on Saturday, November 24, 2012. He died peacefully at home, surrounded by his family.

Buddy was born the second son to Dock Carter and Ada Thiel on June 14, 1932 in Taylor, TX. His big brother Sammy gave him the nickname Buddy because he couldn't pronounce Eulin. It seems Buddy was appropriate because he certainly proved to be a friend to many.

Buddy met the love of his life, his wife and best fiend, Barbara Miller in Smithville, TX. They married on November 22, 1951, which was the first Thanksgiving declared that year. They were happily married for 61 years and together had two children, Steven and Kathy.

Buddy worked for many years as a painter along side his father, brother and uncles, as well as his good friend, Preston Harvey. He enjoyed life: whether going hunting and fishing, dancing with friends and family, helping anyone in need, or playing harmless practical jokes. His steadfast friend, Bill Harmon, remains to tell stories of their good times together.

Buddy is survived by his wife, Barbara Carter; son Steven Carter and wife Colleen of Rosanky; daughter Kathy Blanchard and husband Lester of Austin; brother Samuel Carter and wife Eva of Austin; nephew Bill Carter and partner Bill Dunham of Austin; sister-in-law Betty Kahanek; niece Kathy Miesse and her husband Kenneth of San Antonio; nephew Bud Miller of Floresville; nephew Leon (Butch) Miller and his wife Linda of Houston; nephew Donald Miller of Lake Hills and nephew Michael Miller and wife Connie of Covina, CA; many other family members and friends. He is preceded in death by his niece, Cheryl Carter, sister-in-law Shara Rogers, and brother-in-law Jack Miller.

A special thanks to the Christopher House and its staff for their compassionate care and support.

Thanks also to All Faiths of the Pines for their care in assisting in the funeral services.

Visitation will be at All Faiths of the Pines, Smithville, TX on November 28 from 4-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on November 29 at 10 AM at All Faiths of the Pines with Dr. Karen Boehk, officiating. Interment will be in Oak Hill Cemetery on Highway 95, about 2 miles south of Smithville, then a reception at the First United Methodist Church activity center in Smithville.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to Christopher House in Austin or the charity of your choice.
