Gaelle Atkins

Gaelle Ann Atkins passed away August 18, 2012, after a short hospitalization. She touched many lives and leaves many friends and former co-workers at the Austin Police Department and Travis County Sheriff's Office. Gaelle was born to Gregory and JoAnn Atkins on March 29, 1963, and grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma where she graduated from Will Rogers High School. She attended Texas Women's University, University of Tulsa and Tulsa Community College. Her quick wit, irreverent sense of humor, personal warmth and personality and passion for Animal Rescue were just part of what made her special.

She is survived by her father Gregory H. Atkins of Houston, her sister Wendy Atkins of Smithville, Texas, and her brother Mike Atkins, his wife Patricia and their children Mary, Michelle and Michael of Bellaire, Texas.

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at 11:00 in the Umlauf Sculpture Gardens. In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution to an animal rescue organization or adopting a rescue animal of your own would honor Gaelle's legacy.
