Gilberto Guerrero

Gilberto “Gil” Guerrero, 72, of Austin, Texas, was called to our heavenly father on April 2nd, 2025. Born on December 13th, 1952, in Austin, he was the cherished son of Canuto and Katherine Guerrero. Gil's life was a testament to the bonds of family and the joy found in shared passions.

A devoted family man, Gil had a profound love for softball, where he not only played but also coached, bringing families together as part of teams such as La Prado, The Hustlers, and Guess Who. He thrived during family gatherings, always eager to support and cheer on his nieces and nephews as they took to the field. Beyond sports, he treasured music, dancing, and the serene moments spent on the front porch, sharing laughter and a few cold drinks with friends and loved ones.

Gil was preceded in death by his father, Canuto Guerrero; his mother, Katherine Guerrero; his brother, Miguel “Batman” Guerrero; and his sister, Anita Guerrero. He is survived by a robust family that includes his siblings Fernando Guerrero, Dolores Esparza (Jesse), Sofia Butschy (David), Antonio Guerrero (Lupe), Rosie Garza (Romeo), Benito Guerrero (Ophelia), Josie Selvera (Gilbert), and Frances Faz (Jacinto). His legacy continues through his sons, Gilbert Guerrero and Paul Michael Guerrero (Myra), as well as four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

To honor Gil’s life and memory, a visitation will be held on Saturday, April 12th, 2025, at All Faiths Funeral & Cremation Services - North Austin, located at 8507 N Interstate 35 Frontage Rd, Austin, TX 78753, from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Following the visitation, a funeral service will commence at 3:00PM, allowing family and friends to come together in remembrance of a beloved father, brother, uncle, and friend.
