Glenn Myron Bostick was born on September 13th, 1950, in Stamford, Texas, the third child of Marion Milton Bostick (U.S. Navy, ret.) and Dora Love Bostick. The family relocated to Belton, Texas circa 1952, and he attended Belton public schools, graduating from Belton High School in 1969. He was always proud to be a Belton Tiger. He received an associate of arts degree from Temple Junior College. He did additional coursework toward a teaching degree at U.T. Austin.
He met Donna Fay Koch in Mrs. Mehaffey's French class at Temple Junior College, and they were married on December 31st, 1971. In 1990, they welcomed son Reno into the Bostick clan. They had 45 lively, intense, complex - but predominantly happy - roller-coaster years together.
As a teenager, he helped build the old Brownstone Park apartments in Austin. After college, he trained with Church's Fried Chicken, and managed stores in both Temple and Austin. He then switched to the grocery business, working at Big Bear Mini-Max, Kroger's, and H.E.B. Finally, he spent 16 years at the Texas Workforce Commission as a Labor Market Analyst. He was retired from TWC.
Glenn loved humor, comedy, and telling jokes. He was highly intelligent, witty, and a talented writer and storyteller. He was a very competitive gameplayer, and in youth and young adulthood, he was an avid tennis player and bowler. His eye-hand coordination was legendary. He could run a pool table with one hand, and he has the tournament trophies to prove it. He loved traveling and fine dining. He loved music and enjoyed attending concerts, movies, and plays.
A lifelong Democrat, Glenn was politically very liberal, and that was important to him. During his time at the South Austin Kroger store, he did a stint as union representative for his store. Although not conventionally religious, he was kind, generous, open-hearted and open-handed. He always tried to keep some dollars handy for Austin's homeless population. He was always ready to lend financial aid to his TWC coworkers and folks and friends in AA. He was a frequent chauffeur for the AA group - he would drive just about anyone just about anywhere - wherever they wanted to go. Glenn began attending Berkeley United Methodist Church in 1993, and he was baptized on October 24th, 1993. He believed in God and in Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.
He put on immortality on April 11th, 2017. He is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Donna, and son, Reno Bostick of Austin, Texas, sister Jan Bostick Stoehr (Leonard) of Stanardsville, Virginia, brother Koyce Bostick (Margaret) of Temple, Texas, brother-in-law Carl Koch (Deloris) of Dallas, Texas, mother-in-law Angeline Koch of Temple, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nephews throughout Texas and the U.S.A.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to Berkeley United Methodist Church (2407 Berkeley Avenue, Austin, TX 78745) or to the charitable organization of your choice. Glenn was especially concerned for and sensitive to the needs of the homeless, and persons struggling with mental health issues, addictions, and substance abuse.
