Gloria Stockstill

Gloria Marie Light Stockstill, born May 31, 1950 in McAllen Texas, passed away Friday January 17, 2020 in South Austin, Texas.

Gloria, the daughter of public educators, was raised in Pharr, Texas.  She attended PSJA high school and was a graduate of Pan-American University in Edinburg, Texas.  Gloria married her high school sweetheart Russell Stockstill on June 19, 1970.  After moving from the Rio Grande Valley to Austin.  In 1978 she began her teaching career, which spanned 37 years, including one year at Lamar Junior High, five years at Lexington High School, five years at Johnston High School, and 26 years at James Bowie High School, before retiring in 2014.

Gloria is survived by her husband Russell Stockstill, son Adam Stockstill, daughter-in-law Christie Stockstill, grandsons Xander Stockstill and Arlo Stockstill and sister Dottie Cope.

Gloria will be remembered as funny, passionate, feisty, and generous.  She was a dedicated teacher, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a firecracker with a heart of gold and we will miss her dearly.

A Service will be held Saturday, February 1, 2020 at 3:00PM at St. Marks Episcopal Church
