With heavy hearts, we share that Gregory Earl Scott has entered into the land of light. He was called to his Heavenly Father on September 9, 2022 as his suffering with cancer ended. He was born December 31, 1963, in Dallas, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, Eldon Earl Scott and Shirley Marie Pope Scott, grandmother, Dorothy Pope Huncovic, and uncle, Calvin Ray Pope Sr.
He is survived by his fiancé, Kimberly Carroll-Flores of Austin and family; mother-in-law, Sarah Carroll of Temple, Texas, brothers and sisters in law, Brad and Jasoon Carroll of California, Scott and Amy Carroll of Temple, Texas, nephew Drew Carroll, father figure to Preston Jae Flores and Moriah Smith. Aunt Linda Pope Battles of Athens, Texas, uncle C.S. Pete and Janet Pope of Denton, Texas, uncle Kenneth Pope of Athens, Texas, and numerous of cousins of which he loved.
Greg was always kind and gentle in everything that he did. He would take great pride in helping people as his love language was fixing things. He had the friendliest smile with bright blue eyes. He enjoyed a variety of careers which utilized his talents, but mostly was a very helpful handyman. He served the military as he joined the Marine Corp in his late 20s and traveled to Thailand and Japan. He served as a Military Police when stationed in California. He loved music and was a musician, playing the guitar and drums. While in California, he joined a band consisting of mostly Marines. In the late 1990s, Greg moved to Austin to be closer to his mother and grandmother of which they enjoyed traveling together. He went to Austin Community College and trained to be a paramedic. He was an avid cook who enjoyed making favorite family dishes. He will be greatly missed as he was adored by many.
