Harlan J. Castles was born in Buffalo, Texas on March 10, 1930 to Charles and Vera Castles. After his graduation from Buffalo High School, he went to work for Texas Power and Light and Dallas Power and Light.
Harlan married Elouise Gore in 1950. They had four children-Dale, Mike, Paul and Susan. He retired from Texas Electric Service Company after thirty-eight years of service.
Harlan and Elouise had a "Bucket List" that included photographing all 254 Texas Court Houses, which they accomplished.
Following Elouise's death, Harlan remained in Fort Worth for a while. In 2003 he married Heloise Long and acquired three step children- Lori, Melodee and John.
Harlan and Heloise enjoyed thirteen happy years in Smithville, where they were active members of First United Methodist Church and the community in general.
Harlan loved music, playing golf and gardening.
Harlan is survived by is wife, Heloise along with four children, three step children, nine grand children and their children.
Funeral Service for Harlan will be held at First United Methodist Church, 400 Olive Street, Smithville, TX at 10:00AM, Monday, September 19, 2016. Graveside Service will be held at Laurel Land Memorial Park, 7100 Crowley Road, Fort Worth, TX. at 1:00PM, Wednesday, September 21, 2016.
