Paul Baker, born as Howard Paul Baker on November 12, 1960 in Dallas County, TX, was known by many as a good man. He was full of faith in his Savior God, eager to share and give his love to many, and always ready to smile as he enjoyed life and made a positive difference.
Paul's parents, Howard Ivey Baker and Conetoe Paige Parker, brought him to holy baptism at First Presbyterian Church in Athens, TX as a baby, and later as a teenager he confessed his Christian faith there in his confirmation.
He graduated as valedictorian of his class at Athens High School, and went on to receive a BBA in finance and marketing from the University of Texas in Austin. His education served him well in his future employment as a licensed real estate broker, as well as furniture sales. Most recently Paul was employed by Vintage Estate Homes in new home sales.
Through the years Paul enjoyed scuba diving, snorkeling, traveling, and photography (especially sunsets). He followed Longhorn football and basketball, spent time hiking, enjoying his family and pets, and attending live performances. He was an avid reader, especially studying the Bible and preparing to lead his small group at Holy Word Lutheran Church in Pflugerville, TX.
Besides leading his small group, Paul was actively involved in his church's worship team, homeless ministry, men's ministry, bookstore, and delivering bread to the homes of first-time guests. His passion to share Jesus helped and inspired many.
On August 4, 2007 Paul married Linette (nee Lindquist), after they met each other and dated for the first time at church. God blessed their loving marriage with shared interests like traveling, dog rescue and other pets, keeping up with family, and staying connected with neighbors and their friends at church.
In his perfect wisdom, our gracious God took Paul home to eternal life in heaven on December 2, 2015 as a result of a car accident. He is survived by his wife Linette Anne, his sister Kanita Ivey Crowder of Lubbock, TX, nephew Dylan Frank Norris, niece Delaney Paige Norris, and the many whom he helped, loved, and befriended.
A memorial service and victory celebration will be held at Holy Word Lutheran Church 10601 Bluff Bend Dr Austin, TX 78753 on Friday, December 11 with visitation at 2:30 p.m. and the service at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers live plants are welcome or donations in Paul's name either to Holy Word Lutheran Church (www.holyword.net) or Cocker Spaniel Rescue of Austin/San Antonio (www.austincockerrescue.org).
