Howard Cook son of the late Joel "Dock" Cook, (father) and Evelyn Bruton, (mother) was born, February 1, 1931, Jasper, Alabama. Howard is preceded in death of one brother, Johnny Cook and beautiful Sister, Grace Lee Long, and the most admired woman he spoke so highly of, his grandmother, "Mama Lula", whom instilled in him the ways of life.
He attended the Walker County School District in Jasper, Ala. and then at the tender age of 16, he married his first love Betty Jean in 1947, the year Pearl Harbor was under attack, as he'd remembered it. Howard joined the United States Army, Fort Knox, Kentucky in 1952 where he served as a Cook. He later stationed at the 602nd QM Co. Ford Hood, Texas working in (Petrl. Sup.) Having served faithfully in the Armed Forces, merited him an Honorable Discharge.
He later married Lucille Marshall, and with this union four children were born. Howard worked tirelessly with Austex Chili Company, and then later moved on to work for Johnson Insulation, Austin, Texas where he retired after 20 years. He leaves to mourn his passing, Daughter & Son-n-law, Felisa & Carnell Wilson of Austin. Three sons, Howard Eugene Cook, Johnny Cook, and Anthony W. Cook, all of Austin.
Three Stepsons, James R. Miller, Jr., Lucius R. Miller, and Glen Miller, all of Austin. One Grandson, Ru'zun & Granddaughter-n-law Sametria Wilson, and Great grandchildren, Keishaun Holt & Kimani R. Wilson of Austin. A host of Nieces and Nephews of Austin, and Mississippi.
