Ida Estes-Gantt

Ida Mae Estes-Gantt was born to Roland Edward "R.E." and Daisy Huff-Estes on March 17th, 1929 in Ledbetter, Texas. She attended Post Oak School. At the age of 12, Ida Mae professed a hope in Christ and was baptized at Post Oak Church. At the age of 15, she married the oldest Gantt boy, Lucious, and 5 children came from this union. She was a beautician and a homemaker. After a long battle with Alzheimer's disease and a short fight after suffering a stroke, she went Home on June 4th, 2019 at Trinity Care Center in Round Rock, Texas.

A devoted mother of 5, sister of 12, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother to numerous others, Ida Mae was loved and respected for having an open heart and home to so many. She cared not only for her own children, but for siblings, nephews & nieces, grandchildren, and even foster children over the years. She was known as Sister Gantt to those with whom she worshipped, Ms. Ida to those with whom she worked as a beautician, Nana or Big Mama to her 11 grandchildren, and friends, especially by those at the St. John's Community Center.
