James Robert "Bob" Alvey passed away peacefully in his home in Bastrop, Texas, with loving family by his side on March 24, 2016. He was born to Mary Ann Smith Alvey and Walter H. Alvey on February 19,
1926 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Bob attended Texas Christian University before serving in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Douglas H. Fox. He then served in the Marine Reserves.
An extremely hard working man, he retired from H&H Petroleum and focused on his passion for fishing,gardening, and dove hunting, as well as the occasional good game of poker.
His grace, kindness, generosity, and amazing sense of humor were with him until the end, and will always be remembered and missed.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, and by his wife, Lucille Smith Alvey, brother, Walter Alvey, and sister, Diane Coker.
He is survived by siblings, sister, Elizabeth Baisley, and her husband Tom, brother, David(Fluff) Alvey,and his wife Patty, and sister, Mary Ann Hellman, and by his loving children, Monica Brunson and her husband John, Madeana Wilson, and her husband Brett, grandchildren, Alyssa Wilson and Jamie Wilson, and great granddaughter, Avery Rose Wilson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, and their families.
At his request, there will not be a formal service. Please consider using any time or money that would have been spent on travelling, to instead, go fishing in honor of his memory.
