James Marshall

On November 5, 2016, James Everett "Buddy" Marshall left us unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep at his home in Taylor, Texas. He was preceded in death by his mother Shirley Branum; step-father L.C. Branum, and his father Ray Marshall.
Buddy spent the last few years of his life working as a security guard for Emerald PI in Austin, Texas. He really enjoyed his time there. The majority of his working career was 28 years as a land surveying crew chief for Dale Olson Surveying in Bastrop, Texas. He really loved being able to be in the great outdoors every day working. He also loved spending time at the coast trying to catch that elusive "big one".
Buddy is survived by his wife of 31 years, Debbie; Two sisters, Donna McNew and Cathy Pierce. He is also survived by 3 children, Christy Wilkes, Jason Daniel, and Preston Scogin. He was blessed with 7 grandchildren, Taylor Wilkes; Zachary Wilkes; Arian Cole Scogin; Jordan Lee Scogin; Emily Elizabeth Garza; and Lillian Lorraine Scogin. He was proud to have been blessed with one great grandson, Wendell Colt Wilkes. He also leaves behind five brother and sister in laws, James Grady and wife Sandy and Scott Grady and wife Jerrye, and Mike Pierce, as well as several nieces and nephews and numerous good friends.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 11 from 4 to 7. Services are being held at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home Saturday, November 12, 2016 at 110 American Legion Rd, Smithville, Texas.
