James Parker

Lt Colonel James "Jim" Carlyle Parker, 74, of Austin, TX, passed away, Wednesday, February 10, 2015 due to complications from Alzheimer's disease.

Jim will join in the afterlife his loving wife, Beverly Ann Parker, who preceded him in death just over a year ago and his parents Maj. Gen. Hugh Parker and Janet Parker. Jim is survived by his son David Parker, his son Derek Parker and wife MaryAnn Parker, and grandson Brick Parker.

Jim was born at Langley Field, Virginia on September 5, 1940. Growing up a military dependent and having served in the Army himself, Jim was able to live and travel throughout the United States and internationally. Jim graduated from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and a Master of Arts degree in History. Jim retired from the US Army in 1989, a decorated war veteran, having served 2 tours in Vietnam. Jim then worked in Saudi Arabia as a military advisor from 1991 thru 2002.

Jim will be buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with a small service of just his immediate family. In lieu of any plants or flowers, the family request that a donation be made to Alzheimer's Association at alz.org.
