Jeffery Butler

November 26, 1961 — January 26, 2015

North Austin Location

Jeffery Dale Butler, "Jeff" of Round Rock, Texas, age 53, went on to be with our heavenly father on Monday, January 26th, 2015 after a valiant 3 A½ year battle with Hurthle cell carcinoma, a rare thyroid cancer. Jeff was a son, nephew, cousin, brother, husband, father and friend to many. He passed in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Jeff was born Jeffery Glenn Currier in Washington, DC on November 26th, 1961. He moved to Southern California, South Bay area where he spent half of his life. As a child, Jeff was adopted and became Jeffery Dale Butler. He spent many memorable summers in Bussey, Iowa on the farm of his late maternal grandparents, Leonard & Wylda Langstraat - with many, many wonderful memories and stories.

Jeff grew up attending Hawthorne Assembly of God then Del Aire Assembly of God where he discovered and expanded his musical talents including singing in the choir, playing the piano and the trumpet. He graduated from Leuzinger High School in 1979 and with a beautiful voice and natural talent for the piano, he attended Evangel University in Springfield, Missouri as a Voice and Piano Major. After college, Jeff moved back to the DC area where he met Lisa Marie Kraft of Port Tobacco, Maryland. They were married on August 1st 1987 at Evangel Assembly of God in Camp Springs, Maryland. They lived in the Northern Virginia area briefly before relocating to Southern California where they would have three children, Jeffery, Joshua and Jenna. In 1999 they settled in Round Rock, Texas to raise their family where they still reside.

Jeff lived his life every day through his strong faith in Jesus Christ and he knew this life was only a temporary journey on the way to his eternal life. He would often say, "Remember, you are not in control, God sets every step." Jeff spent a great deal of his life studying the scriptures to interpret what God would tell us through his word; and now he will finally get his answers. One of his favorite memories was his trip to Jerusalem. Music remained an important part of Jeff's life, blessing many with his voice over the years. He enjoyed spending any free time listening to some of his many favorites including Michael Buble, David Phelps and the Three Tenors. Jeff had amazing inner strength, loyalty and commitment to his family. He was a family man and his children were his priority. He was always involved in their everyday lives, no matter how big or small. He supported them in everything they did and taught them to be strong and live in faith, especially during tough times, take responsibility, work hard and never stop going after your dreams. Jeff himself had an undeniable work ethic - always known to be working to provide for his family. He spent his career path in the sales, account management and transportation fields and loved meeting new people. Jeff knew no stranger. Everyone he met became a friendly face that would turn into a great co-worker or lifelong friend, making many friends across the country over his life. He impacted many with his friendly smile and his constant humor wherever he went and will be greatly missed by anyone who knew him.

Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 27 years, Lisa Marie Butler of Round Rock, TX; two sons, Jeffery Michael Butler (22) and Joshua Matthew Butler (20) of Round Rock, TX and one daughter, Jenna Marie Butler (19) of Round Rock, TX; father, Glenn Sheldon Currier of Virginia; mother, Joann Lorraine Butler and stepfather, Jan Eugene Butler of Knoxville, Iowa; sister, Kristi Butler of Los Angeles, CA; half-sister, Heather Eckardt of New York.
