Jimmie G. "Doc" Fleming, 82, passed away Monday, September 14, 2015. He was born December 23, 1932 to William Curtis Fleming and Mayme Estelle McCright Fleming. Jimmie married Jonna Dean Pittman on September 22, 1958. Their marriage was blessed with three sons. A mid-life career change brought the family home to Smithville, where Jimmie went to work as a locomotive engineer. After retiring he devoted his time to his cattle operation in the Oak Hill area near McDade.
Survivors include his wife, Jonna; three sons, Jay (Lisa) of Goliad, Jeff (Cathy) of Smithville and Jonathan of the Oak Hill community; 8 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Also one brother, Jerry Fleming and wife Evelyn of Thrall, as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Bill Fleming, and his wife Norma Jean.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 16th from 5 to 8 PM at All Faiths of the Pines Funeral Home. Service will be Thursday, September 17th at 10 AM at the funeral home with Pastor Michael Murphy officiating, followed by interment at the Smithville Oak Hill cemetery.
Pallbearers are Jerry Fleming, Jr., John Fleming, Evan Fleming, John Toler, Lester Ocker and Edwin Zimmerhanzel. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to The Salvation Army of Smithville, PO Box 2389, Stafford, Tx., 77497-2389, or donor's choice.
