Joe G. Nunez, 73, was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, cousin, and friend. He passed away on November 23, 2022 and has gone home to be with our Heavenly Father. Joe was born and raised in Austin, Texas to Joe S. Nunez and Mercedes G. Nunez on January 14, 1949. He attended Johnston High School and went on to earn an Associate in Arts degree from Western Texas College. Joe worked many years as a machinist for companies such as Lockheed Martin and Baker Hughes, but was a professional saxophone player for several bands, including Ruben Ramos and the Mexican Revolution in the 70's. The band allowed him to travel and he enjoyed the musician lifestyle before he settled down and started a family. Joe loved sci-fi movies, was an avid book reader, was passionate about politics and world events, and he had a soft spot for stray cats. He took the time to befriend his neighbors and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Joe was preceded in death by his father, Joe S. Nunez, mother Mercedes G. Nunez, 5 siblings lost at birth, sister in-law Diega Nunez, and nephew Benjamin Nunez.
He is survived by his brother Jesse G. Nunez, sister Mary Nunez-Diaz, son Joseph G Nunez, son Michael A. Nunez, daughter Nature A. Nunez, daughter Andrea T. Nunez, and daughter Amelia M. Nunez.
Joe had 8 grandchildren: Brandon Nunez, Brett Nunez, Charles M. Reyna, Jr., Zachary Reyna, Anita Nunez, Raymond Pitts, Aaliyah Martinez, and Ira Nunez-Thompson.
Visitation for Joe will be held on Monday December 5, 2022 from 5 - 8 pm at All Faiths Funeral Chapel (North Location) and followed by cremation.
His ashes will be placed alongside his mother and father at Assumption Cemetery on January 14, 2023, followed by a Celebration of Life reception.
