John Alfred Garza, lovingly known as Johnny by his family, age 65, of Cedar Creek, Texas peacefully passed away on Tuesday 5/22/18 after a long struggle with cancer.
Johnny served in the United States Air Force from March 25, 1971 – June 11, 1974. He was honorably discharged with a Rank of Sgt. E4. He recently retired from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs after 32 years of dedicated service. Johnny also managed the County Line Bar, a local Watering Hole, in his spare time; he loved music and socializing with his friends.
Johnny’s hobbies were Salt Water Fishing and growing plants. He really enjoyed Salt Water Fishing; it was one of his favorite things to do. Since his retirement he had also been acquiring lots of trees and plants for his yard, it seemed he had inherited his parent’s love for plants and their green thumb.
Johnny is preceded by his father, Alfred (Freddy) Garza and his son John Alfred Garza Jr. He is survived by his mother Eva Cantu Del Toro and stepfather Jesse Del Toro, son John Aric Garza and wife Dorothy his daughter, Sonya Laura (Garza) Juarez, his daughter-in-law Marcellina Robles Garza, grandchildren, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Garza, Jayden Garza, Abigail Juarez, Lauren Juarez, Catalina Juarez, Gabriella Garza, Michael Garza, his sister Sylvia Heisey and husband Jim, sister Eva Irma Garza Foley, sister Diana Saenz Castello and husband Jim, step sisters, Emma Saenz, Arora Del Toro, Edna Ruiz, Guadalupe Del Toro, Norma Lopez, and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial Service will be held on Sunday June 10th from 1-3 pm at 18602 River Timber Del Valle, TX .
