Jose Cerna

Jose Garcia Cerna, 72, of Smithville, Texas passed away in Temple, Texas on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.
He was born to the late Vicente and Mary Cerna on October 1, 1944. Jose enlisted in the United States Army in August of 1965 and served 2 tours in Vietnam. He received an Honorable Discharge from the Army after being wounded in battle. He enjoyed painting, spending time with his family, and spreading the Gospel to anyone he came in contact with.
Jose is preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ann Cerna; his parents, Vicente and Mary Cerna and his daughter, San Juanita Arenas. He is survived by three children: Joanna Sambrano and husband Eleno along with their children; Maria Martinez, Christina Garza, Alfredo Martinez and Anna Sambrono; his son, Johnny Martinez, and his youngest daughter, Carmen Nowlain and her husband, Noble Nowlain and their children, Mariann Bishop, Marcus Bishop, Kade Nowlain and Devin Nowlain; his late daughter, San Juanita Arenas' children, Shannon Martinez, Rosemarie Serna, Jose Martinez, and Lucio Arenas along with his siblings, many nieces and nephews and other loved ones.
A visitation will be held at All Faiths of the Pines located at 110 American Legion Road, Smithville, Texas, 78957, Thursday, November 3, 2016 from 4:00PM -8:00PM. Funeral Services will be the following day, at 1:00PM, Friday, November 4, 2016 also at All Faiths of the Pines. Jose Cerna will be laid to rest in Powell Cemetery, Smithville, Texas directly following the funeral services
