Joyce Reagan

Joyce Carnes Reagan was called home to be with her Lord on August 14, 2015. She was 71 years old. Joyce was born to Durwood and Robbie Grooms Carnes on September 17, 1943 in Brownwood, Texas. Her Dad was a dairy farmer until he passed at an early age. Her mom became a hairdresser and supported Joyce with the help of her older sister Nell Dean.
Then along came a love struck young man, Gene Reagan, who swept Joyce off of her feet. They were told they were too young and that it wouldn't last... 56 years later they proved everyone wrong. They married on July 24, 1959. Along came their daughter Laurie on December 15, 1960. Joyce and Gene lived in Brownwood, Lubbock, El Paso, Abilene, and finally made their home in Austin, Texas in 1963. Their daughter Joy Lynn was born on December 26, 1966. Joyce loved being a wife and mother. It brought her much joy. She was truly Gene's helpmate in so many ways.
Joyce helped Gene run his landscape irrigation company for many years. She was gifted as an artist and writer. She had a published short story. She also owned her own gift shop for a period of time. Later she worked at Flahive, Ogden and Latson as a file room manager and briefing clerk supervisor.
Joyce loved to entertain and cook, and also loved having friends and family over. Many memories were made.
Her greatest pride was her husband, her daughters, grandchildren and great granddaughter. In the words of her grandchildren she was their "rock."
Her greatest heartache was losing her sweet daughter Joy Lynn Reagan Abou-Hamdan on July 26, 2006 and her dear grandson Nemr Gene Abou-Hamdan on August 26, 2007.
Joyce is survived by her dear husband Gene Reagan, daughter Laurie Reagan Andrews, granddaughter's Dana Davis and Michelle Abou-Hamdan. Grandson's Jordan Davis and Neal Abou-Hamdan. Great granddaughter Leighton Davis. Her beloved son in law Ali Abou-Hamdan. Her sister Nell Dean Evans and many nieces and nephews.
There will be a memorial service held in her honor on Saturday, August 22nd at Kinney Avenue Christian Fellowship Church located at 1801 Kinney Ave. Austin, Texas. The service will be at 1pm and reception at 11:30am.
