Julia Mills

Julia Maxwell Mills was born to Lennie Sr. and Bessie Mae Maxwell on April 25, 1949 in Austin, Texas. She attended Austin public schools and graduated from the original L.C. Anderson High School.

Julia accepted Christ at an early age in the Baptist faith and was a long standing member of New Light Ebenezer Baptist Church.

She graciously served in Mission I, as a Choir Member, and a Deaconess.

She was married to Walter Mills Sr. for 45 years and from the union four children were born. Julia was a caring wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who showered her family with love and kindness. She leaves to cherish her memory her husband Walter Mills Sr., children: Audra Mills-Ogbodiegwu (Ben), Walter Jr. (Maria), and Cameka; grandchildren: Aaron, Tierra, Jarvis, Ben Jr., Jaila, Mya, Alyiah, Nijah; great grandchild Ava; brothers: Booker T. Bell, Arthur Bell, James Maxwell, Marion Maxwell, Kermit Maxwell, and other family and friends.

Julia was preceded in death by her parents, Lennie Sr. and Bessie Mae Maxwell, sisters: Lucy Harden, Lennie Thomas, and Lonnie Maxwell, brother, Lennie Maxwell Jr., and daughter Carita Mills.

Julia retired after 27 years of dedicated service at Legal Aid. Julia went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 21, 2014. She enjoyed making ceramics, spending time with her grandchildren, and always providing a loving ear and an inspirational word to everyone. Life will not be the same... she will never be forgotten.

Visitation Services will be held on Tuesday, December 30th, 2014 from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at All Faiths Funeral Service-North IH-35 Location.

Home Going Services will be held on Wednesday, December 31st, 2014 at 1:00pm at New Light Ebenezer Baptist Church, 4703 Reyes St., Austin, Texas. Internment Committal Services will follow at Evergreen Cemetery, 12th St. and Airport Blvd., Austin, Texas.
