Kathryn Frances Arellano, 58, passed away in Lago Vista, Texas, on September 24, 2013, after a short and courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and left her childhood home to attend the University of Texas at Austin. She spent 32 years working at AT&T (formerly Southwestern Bell) and the last eight years working at Health and Human Services Commission for the State of Texas. As a dedicated employee, Kathy's cheerful disposition ensured many work friendships throughout the years.

She is preceded in death by her father Charles A. Lavery and mother Loanne Burney. She is survived by her husband Tomas Arellano Sr. and their children, Christopher and Deborah Arellano, Wesley and Jennifer Guidry, Tomas and Joanah Arellano Jr., Charles Guidry, and Sonia Arellano; three grandchildren; her former husband and his wife Terry and Anne Guidry; her stepfather Bill Burney; her siblings Cheryl Lavery, Charles and Nancy Lavery, Jeff Burney, and Rick and Francine Burney.

Kathy was a phenomenal person who made everyone around her feel special. She was an incredible wife, mother, relative, and friend. Kathy loved to work in her garden with her husband and spend the weekend on the lake with her family. She was spontaneous and caring. Many people will miss her immensely.

The celebration of Kathy's life will take place at Southwest Family Fellowship in Austin, Texas, on Saturday October 19, 2013, at noon. In Lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to Thrive Well Cancer Foundation: http://thrivewell.org
