Kathy grew up in Lubbock, Texas with her beloved mom Martha Fain, her brothers Jesse (Guitar) Taylor, and Tim Fain. From an early age she was surrounded by creative luminaires and a sundry colorful West Texas characters who ultimately provided her with an ever expanding extended family who remained close to her throughout life, include ensuing generations of musicians, artists, et al.
Like untold multitudes of other West Texas refugees, the Taylor/Fain clan relocated to Austin around 1990. In the mid 90’s, Kathy reconnected with another Lubbock ex-patriot Nick Ferrari (aka David Smith) and they began a blissful union that lasted through the remainder of her life. Their mutual love and joyful life together was a rare blessing without blemish and was overtly cherished by both parties.
During the course of Kathy’s life, she amassed an untold number of loving friends, family, and even casual acquaintances who were drawn to her beautiful laugh. She was always kind, generous, caring and helpful. A shining light for everyone, she will be sorely missed and long remembered by many hearts.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Nick, her brother Tim, her nieces, Chelsea Taylor, Nicole Taylor, and Cary Matia Young.
We are planning a memorial very soon.
