Kenneth LaVern Dishmon was born in Natchez, Mississippi on January 8, 1955 to Willie and Vivian Dishmon. Born into a military family this afforded him to travel the world as a child. He professed his love for Christ at an early age. He graduated from George Washington High School in Denver, Colorado in 1973 and from there he went into the Navy to serve his country. He received his RN degree from Central Texas College in Killeen, Texas in 1994.
On August 15, 1987 Kenneth married his true love, Linda Smith and made Bastrop, Texas their home. Later he and Linda became the proud parents of five children. Upon retirement from the military, Kenneth became a RN Nurse for the VA Hospitals, where he traveled frequently from hospital to hospital to care for the sick. Kenneth worked in his community and was the Coach of Starz Hoops of Bastrop. Grant AME became his church home where he served faithfully until his health failed. While attending Grant AME, Kenneth served as Teacher for the Men's Ministry, YPDs and served on the Trustee Board.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his father, Willie Dishmon. Kenneth Dishmon passed peacefully from this life Monday morning of January 19, 2015 after a gradual decline in health. He was surrounded and supported by his loving family and caregivers during the last days of his life.
Kenneth leaves to cherish his memory his wife Linda Dishmon; daughters Valencia (Marlon), Shannon (Victor), Charquenta, Rachel and son Blake; Mother, Vivian Dishmon; Sisters, Daphne (Dino), Vivian (David), Tanya (Eric); Brothers, Willie (Bridgett) and Dwayne; Two Grandsons, Marquis and Samuel; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
